Chromatin is a major player in cancer. Malignant transformation involves the accumulation of oncogenic mutations that lead to the onset of genome instability and the establishment of an altered chromatin metabolism that allows the unrestrained proliferation of cancer cells. Thus, changes in transcription, replication, remodelling and repair underlie the acquisition of the malignant phenotype. On the other hand, chromatin enzymes are also attractive targets for the development of targeted therapies that aim at alterations observed in specific cancer types. In 2026, we will hold the second edition of the Symposium, following the success of the 2024 meeting. We have an excellent panel of confirmed speakers from the top institutes in Spain. As in our first edition, we will offer ample time to foster interaction and scientific collaboration. This is a great opportunity to contribute to the progress of the field of cancer epigenetics in Spain.
